Central Ward Councilman Darrin Sharif 1st Annual Day of Giving @ Nat Turner Park~

October 14, 2011 Community, Newark News

There is nothing more humble than the spirit of giving which Nat Turner Park had plenty of this past Saturday. There were free book bag give aways, free tickets, free performances by Walkin Contradiction Femi Shiri, singing, spoken word, and dancing.

All performances were done by Newark Natives souls who were elated about being apart of this day Central Ward Councilman Darrin S. Sharif have diligently put together.

Several sign up tables were on site from Newark Fire Department, Boy scouts, free tutoring via Innovative Educational Progress, and One Newark Education Coalition. All had such a sense of urgency that if the residents had any questions or concerns, a representative from the respective table was more than happy to assist, and accomplished getting parents and
guardians answers to their questions.

It was amazing to witness the youths doing their best and knowing what they want out of life at an early age. When asked, a young girl stated that she want to be a dancer, and a young man stated that he want to be an entrepreneur!

World, do you understand what your youths are thinking of and what direction they need to be helped with? I was so excited that the crowed could hear me yelling saying that’s the right answer, I love your answers The children smiled and were confident that their dreams are being supported and that they matter!

What a heart-filled and loving day to be apart of! If you were looking for a special moment, time, or day to see smiles from ear to ear, love, and happiness, the First Day of Giving was the day you needed to witness. Enjoy love and light and we shall see you all next year.
