Trini-American Anya Ayoung-Chee wins Project Runway without prior Sewing Experience

Anya Ayoung-Chee was born in New York City to Trinidadian parents but moved to Trinidad at the tender age of two. Therefore, she holds dual American and Trinidadian citizenship! Anya won Miss Trinidad and Tobago Universe in the Miss Universe 2008 pageant.

Anya became passionate about art and design during her junior high years in school. Having the passion for art and design, Anya tried out to be a contestant for Season 9 of the television show Project Runway. Despite learning how to sew just a few months before the show, she was placed at least in the top three in most of the challenges and eventually won the competition yesterday October 27th, 2011.
