Newark residents are more than fed up and outraged with what has been going on in this wonderful city! They have stressed that they are tired of City officials not providing them with sufficient information about the pros and cons of Newark. Where are the jobs? We need health benefits! Do
something about the Genocide that has been going on for the past couple of
years! Why is the city allowing the banks to take our homes? Why is it that the
minorities of this city do not know about the several programs that are in
place to help them with proper decision making on preventing their homes from
going into foreclosure? And so on different individuals from the crowd have
been saying with passion.
We have met supporters from Brooklyn, NY, Manhattan, and from other states who are out in Newark at Military Park giving support to the Occupy Newark Movement! Residents and supporters have asked why are we paying for what is going on in America? Why are we suffering since the devastation
of 9-11-2001? Should the innocent pay for America’s conspiracy? What do you
think? We need more passionate and courageous supporters and residents who are
fed up and believe that NOW is the time to stand for CHANGE!
Our city Councilman Ras Baraka, John Sharpe James (son of Mayor Sharpe James), Newark’s own The Street Doctor and several other city officials along with supporters and myself have slept over night in tents. Newark Police Captain Gonzales and a few other Newark Police officers attempted to get everyone out of the tents and send us home but no one moved. The Street Doctor came to our tent and requested that brother True V come out. When i asked if they needed me to come out, The Street Doctor said we got this under control! Hence, Councilman Ras Baraka, John Sharpe, myself and other protestors stayed in our tents. This was definitely a reflection of strength and unity which also showed officials that we the people are fed up!
