Tosheia N. Ballard, Esq.
Tosheia N. Ballard is co-founder and partner at the law office of Ballard & Prisock, LLC, where she is a member of the firm’s Contracts and Business Law practice group. She specializes in contracts, entertainment law and contract litigation.
Prior to forming Ballard & Prisock, Ms. Ballard served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Newark, Department of Law in the Contracts and Legislation Section. As in-hous counsel, Ms. Ballard served as a skilled professional with experience in all phases of contracts, statutory and regulatory matters. In addition, Ms. Ballard drafted and negotiated a myriad of contracts, including multi-million dollar contracts for goods and services and government grants. Ms. Ballard founded and coordinated the Law Department’s Comprehensive Internship Program, employing and overseeing over 45 high school, college and law school interns each year.
Currently, Ms. Ballard serves as General Counsel for two Film Production Companies and two Music Production Companies. In addition, Ms. Ballard also represents a range of entertainment clients from screenwriters, musicians, producers and actors. A native of Newark, New Jersy, Ms. Ballard was recently voted as Board Counsel for Newark Police Department’s Bronze Shields. Ms. Ballard was also recently invited to serve as a member of the American Bar Association’s Advisory Panel.

Education
In 2000, Ms. Ballard received her J.D. from the Valparaiso University School of Law, where she was Chair of the Sports & Entertainment Laweyer’s Association. During her first year of law school, Ms. Ballard studied law abroad in Cambridge, England and interned at Curtis & Co., a London based international corporate firm. During her final year at law school, she also served as a pro bono law clerk for the Lake County, Indiana Prosecutor’s Office. In 1998, Ms. Ballard was the recipient of the Illinois Judicial Scholarship in recognition of her potential for a promising legal career.
A 1995 graduate of Bloomfield College, Bloomfield, New Jersey, cum laude, Ms. Ballard received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and she is a lifetime member of Psi Chi, a national honor society for Psychology majors. Ms. Ballard was nominated to receive the distinct honor of being named to the National Dean’s List, where only one-half of one percent of the nation’s students receive such an honor. She received the multiple-year award when she was nominated on two separate occasions.
