Colgate’s Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Education and Mobile Van Reaches Millions of Children Every Year Global Program;
One of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations, The Links, Inc., is helping to bring smiles to Newark youth
Mayor Cory A. Booker and Department of Child Family Well-Being Director LaTanya Williamson announced today that the Colgate Van, in partnership with the North Jersey Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, The Leaguers, Inc. and the Newark Family Success Centers will be coming to the City of Newark to provide free dental screenings to children ages 1-12 today, Thursday, April 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at The Leaguers Building, 101-103 Arlington Street, in Newark.
Colgate’s Bright Smiles, Bright Futures program is a multi-tiered initiative to promote the importance of oral health through education and prevention. The program and mobile van reach millions of children every year and will be coming to Newark, NJ as part of several stops to give free dental screenings to children referred by the City of Newark’s Pediatric Clinic/WIC Programs and The Leaguers, Inc. Head Start Program. Parents can pre-register by calling (973) 733-5310. Walk-ins are also welcome the day of the event.
The free screenings are being sponsored by Colgate and The Links, Incorporated, an international, not-for-profit corporation, established in 1946. The organization consists of 12,000 professional women of color in 274 chapters located in 42 states underline; the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. It is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
